Rig Specs privacy policy
Effective TBD. Applies to the Rig Specs app published by Dreamz Code (Jeremy Doege).
The short version
Rig Specs stores your fleet's specs on your device. Data leaves the device only when you use AI import or VIN decode.
What stays on your device
Rig profiles, specs, torque values, fluids, part numbers, documents and the change log are stored in the app's local database.
What leaves your device
- AI-assisted import (optional): when you import a manual, parts list or photo, its content is sent to the Rig Specs server (a Supabase Edge Function), which passes it to an AI model to extract spec rows. TODO: name the AI provider and say whether anything is kept.
- VIN decoding (optional): the VIN is sent to the US government's NHTSA vPIC decoder.
Camera
The camera is used only to scan VIN barcodes, on-device with Google's ML Kit. Images are not saved or sent.
Accounts
Rig Specs has no accounts yet. TODO: update this policy before sign-in and sync ship.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
